Stay connected more with the new Dell Alienware M15X 7800mAh 5200mAh Li-ion Battery Dell Inspiron. 10.8 The rechargeable Li-ion battery can replace the original system or be used as part alternatives. DELL battery life (and recharge times) will vary depending on many factors including screen brightness, applications, features, power management, battery conditioning and other customer preferences.
Alienware has announced a laptop compact high performance long ago. But although it was already available in the U.S. for some time, it is just finally coming to Europe. The notebook m15x Alienware Area-51 brings the first producer that offers a laptop 15 games of chance "with a graphic card 8800 GTX and Intel Core 2 Extreme. This is also the current maximum that is possible in the compact multimedia class. Compared to other models Alienware, we have tested to date, the Area-51 m15x seems very simple and discrete (fujitsu battery), at least as long as the different LED lights are not enabled. The screen lid and the base unit are kept in a silver plastic frame. We particularly liked the seamless finish this part, which creates an impression of the compact computer Cell.
The simple geometric shape and fits perfectly with the color scheme. The details of the most remarkable are the first two openings on the left and right of the keyboard, which contain the speakers, and also displaying the central hinge. But the Area-51 m15x is the center of attention after lighting LED lighting. The LEDs are very efficient because the design of the discrete case, (not Cheap FPCBP216 10.8 V, 3-cell batteries, batteries for FUJITSU FPCBP216) especially if other light sources are dimmed.
One can adjust the lighting the Area-51 m15x with the software Alien FX lightning in the command center. Various different colors or separate areas can be selected for the effects light. The laptop distinguish different areas of lighting, like the tube of light around the screen as a small space that emits light, enlightenment shortcut keys and the touchpad and keyboard. Our sample had a keyboard without lighting however.
Another interesting gadget to customize the m15x is the aluminum plate on the bottom of the laptop, on which up to 23 characters chosen by the owner who will soon (FUJITSU Lifebook laptop battery M2010) are etched by laser. The text is translated into exotic characters and also added a sheet that is placed on the touchpad.
Ah yes, remember the well-known face on the cover of exotic screen, which is well lit. It begins to vibrate if the laptop is placed in standby mode, which is also called "Breath" by Apple. The Alienware m15x fails Unfortunately to do so gently, so it is more like it is clearing it's throat.
We also had to clear the throat closer inspection of the case, which is a compact and robust printing due primarily to the design, but clearly disappointed in the test run (cheap F310J 11.1V, 9 Cell Battery, batteries for DELL F310J). Holding the laptop results, lifting, or applying a little pressure, always squeaking noises that seem to be the norm with the m15x. Particularly bad in this area are the hinges of the screen and display.
Although the display is not exactly 12 millimeters thin, it seems to be very sensitive to any kind of pressure or twisting. Just opening and closing the screen is apparently too much for the notebook and results rapidly clicking and squeaking. In addition, strains and even color changes on the display are visible. (Cheap-F82 A32 11.1V, 11.25V, 6 cells Batteries, battery for ASUS A32-F82, brand new, 1 year warranty! Ship to most countries)
The hinge has failed to make a good impression too. Even if the resistance while adjusting the screen is acceptable, the noise it creates and the oscillations of the screen after being put in the desired position is clearly not. Whereas it is a portable compact that can be carried everywhere, these problems are quite serious.
In particular, the creaking noises while working with Notepad overshadow the printing of the m15x. Touch only in the average room Plastic also does not change that fact. The poor quality is particularly difficult to understand if we consider the current price of the Alienware Area-51m15x in our configuration 2.799 .- Euro. (Replacement Battery for ASUS A32-U80, 11.25 voltage, 5600 mAh, 6 cell Li-ion Batteries)
The front and side back of the computer stay out of connections. On the right side before the computer is a card reader (7in1), followed by a ExpressCard slot (54mm). The two slots are closed by flaps as well. Rubberplugs or plastic models are unnecessary.
Also returns an HDMI port, This allows a complete transfer of digital image data and video. Then comes a USB 2.0 and Firewire 1394b (9-pin) interface, which is somewhat unusual for laptops. Completely to the rear is a Kensington lock.
The left side of the m15x is occupied by food, LAN port, two USB 2.0 ports and audio connections (microphone, headphones). All these ports are located in the rear half of the left, which concentrates various cables and prevents annoying cable tangle. The Area-51 m15x is not just a pretty interface complete equipment, but also a very alignment of available ports.
The DVD Multi is located on the left side on the front. The slot could also be equipped SmartBay another optical drive, such as a Blu-Ray. Another possibility would be to put an extra hard drive or SQU-724 battery in the slot SmartBay m15x.
Unlike other readers, Optiarc AD-5540AD doesen't have a release button on the disc itself. Instead, it can be opened with the key combination FN + F8.
The m15x also integrated communication modules. The gaming laptop offers an Ethernet module Broadcom Gigabit transfers made by fast local area networks, as well as a wireless network adapter Intel standard4965AGN. Bluetooth 2.0 provides a communication wirelessly between devices extra.
Alienware offers only a Kensington lock on security, but at least it secures the notebook to a table or other heavy objects on the LAN parties, to prevent thieves from stealing the laptop.
Enclosed in our Alienware m15x test sample was a small leather pouch containing the user manual for the short, rather, a thin protective cover, recovery and Driver CD (not expensive UM09A75 11.1V, 9 Cell Battery 6-cell, batteries for ACER UM09A75) and Nero 7 Essentials. Also included is a mouse pad in the design made by Alienware Func, which proved to be very suitable for games in our tests (in combination with a Logitech MX510).
The Alienware Area-51 m15x offers a standard keyboard without numeric keypad additional which is not surprising for a 15.4-inch laptop. Lack of experience layout, 18x18mm standard keys and enter keys generous space and a text input and the necessary adjustments.
Typing on the keyboard, which offered resistance and a soft good race, was very pleasant following. Another positive element is the quiet typing. The keyboard has also been robust, even point pressure did not cause deformation Much of the keyboard unit, which is particularly useful when playing fast games, which often lead to strong pressure on the keys unique in the heat of the moment. (Replacement Battery for Acer UM09A31, voltage 11.10, 7200 mAh, 9 cell Li-ion Batteries)
The individual keys seem a bit overwhelming, because of the color border each key a, which emit light on lighted models of integrated keyboard (38 .- Euros extra).
The touchpad is optically very well integrated into the look of the Alienware m15x. It is also integrated into the surroundings and provides case one-button trackpad continues. The main weakness of the wafer surface is smooth. Alienware included two stickers with a rough surface with the laptop that can be key pad, to improve treatment. Most users will probably prefer the rough surface, which leads to the question why the buffer was not equipped with that surface from the beginning. Compared to the original surface, the handling was much better after putting the sticker on the trackpad.
The key to simple touch pad was also apparently occurs in the eye if please, and not to be user friendly. The button still has a vast dead zone in the middle (about one third of the total width!), And can not be properly supported on the left and right (cheap AL31-1005 10.8V, 11.25V, 6 cell batteries, batteries for Asus AL31-1005). We therefore strongly recommended to use an external mouse, which should not be an issue for a real player anyway.
A touch panel above the keyboard provides a control m15x additional laptop. The term "touch" is in our opinion not very precise but, because the symbols require the finger to rest on them for a long time to really react.
Particularly troublesome in this regard is the volume control. Much patience is needed to obtain the desired volume.
Alienware currently offers two different displays to 15.4 inches. They differ supported resolution and type display area. The choice is between a WXGA + 1440x900 pixels display with ClearView technology (glossy surface) and a WUXGA screen with 1920x1200 pixels a matte surface and a HD compatible. (ASUS 1101HA Eee PC laptop battery)
Our test sample was equipped with a screen high-resolution WUXGA (LPL1801) and was immediately loved because of its non reflective surface. Unfortunately this is rare, since Multimedia phones almost never offer matte surfaces. It is impressive that Alienware is going against the common trend, and proposes that they display high range with a friendly eye surface.
Fears that the matte screen might not be able to compete with the brilliant displays in for brightness, color or contrast, quickly disappeared after a few tests. The WUXGA screen brightness peaked at a very good 191.3cd/m2 in the central display area. The lighting panel is 87.6% higher than average.
The minimum measured brightness (value black) of the display was 0.37cd/m2. This, combined with the maximum brightness of 191.3cd/m2, resulted in a maximum contrast of 517:1 good. Subjectively, the display is still strong and with good contrast. (Cheap 11.1 A32-F80, 6 cell battery, battery for ASUS A32-F80, brand new, 1 year warranty! Ship to most countries)
Rather unusual for a gaming notebook, but possible nonetheless, is the use of external Alienware Area-51 m15x. The surface display low and high brightness of the screen allow the outdoor use with proper image quality.
The Sun offers WUXGA screen is large enough angle of stability in the vertical and horizontal directions for a sufficient area of work. The image does not change even if the horizontal viewing angle is very flat. The differences in the optimal viewing angle in the vertical direction have a greater effect, however, and shadow display passes quickly if the viewing angle becomes flatter. But this should not be much of a problem in stationary use. (Cheap AS09C71 11.1V, 6-cell batteries, batteries for GATEWAY AS09C71
)
Alienware praised the Area-51 m15x to be the first 15 "laptop graphics with Geforce 8800M GTX. This is correct, but it is very likely that other producers will follow soon. Clevo example, has shown a screen 15.4 "model at CeBIT this year, which is expected to be equipped with a Geforce 8800 graphics card. We look forward to a direct competitor to the m15x, but it will play in a separate category so far.
The material of the Area-51 m15x looks like the wish list of a player Santa Claus: NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX with 512 MB of GDDR3 video memory and Intel Core 2 Extreme clocked at 2.8 GHz with 6 MB of L2 cache are the fastest possible configuration of the m15x. This marks not only the components above the m15x series, it is also the best possible performance of 15.4 "notebooks. No computer Cell series is currently available that matches the performance of the Area-51 m15x. http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/dell-laptop-battery.htm
A first glimpse of the impressive performance gives the benchmark 3D Mark tests. 15,805 points, 05 points and 3D Mark 9217 in 3D Mark 06, the computer Alienware catapult to the top. Even the former top dog in the ranking, the Dell XPS M1530, had to settle for second place behind the m15x.
This result is not very surprising, and a comparison with various portable multimedia all-round seems almost unnecessary. The Alienware Area-51 m15x is a high performance machine, which would sacrifice everything for performance. This idea was also applied when selecting the hard disk: A Hitachi (HTS722020K9A300) with a speed of 7200r/min and a capacity of 200GB. The most remarkable feature is of course performance. In the test reaches HDTune transfer rates up to 70.5MB/sec and an excellent record low access time of only 15.2m. This result makes the hard drive of the best its class.
The m15x uses two memory slots available for RAM, which can accommodate up to 4096 MB and supports dual-channel mode. Our sample contained two modules of DDR2 1024 MB PC5300. In addition, an Intel Turbo Cache module is available.
Apart from all the pushing to ensure maximum performance, The m15x also has a very interesting feature: the user can switch between the Geforce 8800M GTX graphics chip and an integrated Intel (BinaryGFX) by simply pressing the key combination FN + F7 (Lenovo laptop battery). Although this is a reboot necessary, it gives all the benefits of an integrated graphics card, such as significantly lower temperatures, and quieter fans, and energy consumption much lower
The performance of the test sample satisfies the test in PCMark 2005, as well. The m15x moves with 7669 points ahead the top of the multimedia classroom again. But that's not all. Even the giants of performance such as the Dell XPS M1730 (always with the processor Merom) are beaten by the m15x in this test. The main reason is the powerful Intel Core 2 Extreme, which is fully utilized in this test. http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/fujitsu-laptop-battery.htm
This result is supported by the test Cinebench R10 benchmark. The Alienware Area-51 m15x handles better in rendering and shading again. In fact, the Alienware m15x could also be used by professionals for graphics-intensive computing applications, but the main strength will always be games.
Probably the most important advantage of the Alienware m15x is the return during the current execution games - at least that's what Alienware said. We obviously take this posting as an invitation to immediately test the performance of Crysis on the Alienware m15x.
The Area-51 m15x provided a good impression of its performance. With a resolution of 1024x768 pixels and medium details, it reaches about 45 frames per second (fps) in the benchmark. Increase high resolution details can result in the drop below 30 fps. When playing the first single player level with 1024x768 and high details, he ran 20 to 40 frames per second. The game was playable, but had frequent frame drops.
The m15x also obtained good results in the test performance of real-time strategy World in Conflict game with medium details (DirectX9). He managed an average smooth 47-fps even on the maximum resolution of 1920x1200 pixels.
Change DirectX10, on the other hand, is equipped Alienware m15x even under pressure. Although he manages acceptable 31 frames per second with a resolution of 1024x768 it drops to 19 fps at native resolution (1920x1200).
This result has changed the practical test in a multiplayer game (2 vs. 2, map Seaside), which was enough playable with 20-40 fps, despite DirectX10 and resolution native. But for LAN battles with opponents than it would be a good idea to reduce the level of resolution or detail.
A candidate for mandatory testing course is also currently very popular multiplayer first person shooter Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare. The practical examination of the first solo mission with a resolution of 1024x768, anti-aliasing turned off, other settings default, resulting in frame rates between 50 and 90 fps.
An increase of the resolution to 1920x1200 pixels reduces the frame rate slightly at 40-90 fps. But even with these settings the game was playable smoothly and looked great.
The Alienware Area-51 has also passed the practical test Unreal Tournament 3. The frame rate observed (see map of heat-Ray standard Details - Level 3) with a resolution of 1024x768 and 1920x1200 native resolution, has remained between 60-65 fps. Only a higher level details 6 (world and textures), slowed the pace a bit lower at 40-60 fps. But the game is still playable without any problems with those frame rates.
Our test sample was the latest Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance. In the practical test of strategy game in real time, we played a game with four players in multiplayer mode with a resolution of 1024x768 and medium details, and observed a frame rate of 25-30 fps. The game was even with the maximum resolution of 1920x1200 pixels with 20-25 fps playable.
Note: Several forums to discuss currently updating Bios m15x, m15x because the first laptops that have appeared in the United States had apparent problems with heat sensors, which caused loss of power.
Our test sample had Bios version vX30P3, that should fix the problem and we also have not noticed in testing game (F310J DELL Laptop Batteries). Just in case some users still have problems, Alienware offers a further update BIOS to version X32RC1. For More info and download here.
Depending on how the Area-51 m15x is executed, it has two completely different levels of noise. In desktop mode with low load, it is possible to use virtually silent. Both options make this possible: either the stealth mode, which reduces the performance of the m15x and can be activated by pressing a button above the keyboard shortcut, or via powerful graphics card with Geforce graphics chip Intel integrated slow. These options significantly reduce the level noise during undemanding tasks like Internet browsing or typing in quiet 32.8dB (A), which is an excellent result.
This quiet change quickly to the fan noise loud under load without any attempt to reduce performance and enabled 8800M GTX. The noise level ranges m15x, as the game or application, compared to 43.3 dB (A) to a maximum of 50.6 dB (A) if the two nuclei and the work of graphic card to the limit. Fan noise can be described as very unpleasant at that point. But the players will probably be able to ignore the cries of fans, given the performance Offer laptop.
The surface temperature also reflects the performance of the Area-51 m15x. Although the upper part of the base stays with 43.4 ° C at reasonable levels, the situation looks different on the underside around the central area, which heats up to a maximum hot of 51.4 ° C. It is therefore important to always put the notebook on a flat, solid surface to ensure adequate ventilation, especially if the laptop is often under load.
The m15x has two speakers located on the left and right above the keyboard, which produce a clear sound. Although we wanted to sound a bit more and more bass for music playback, sound quality is adequate.
Although mobility is not so important for a portable game like Alienware m15x, it is actually capable of flexing away from the outlet as long as only few applications are demanding used.
Important in this regard, apart from size and weight acceptable case is the Dell Alienware M15X battery life laptop. The m15x has an ace in the sleeve helps a lot - the ability to switch to integrated graphics. Testing the battery life as much as possible (BatteryEater Readers test) shows the difference: while the computer only runs for 138 minutes with graphics enabled Geforce 8800M GTX, despite all energy savings enabled (power saving profile, stealth mode is enabled, screen brightness at minimum, WLAN and Bluetooth off), it runs 223 minutes with the same parameters after switching to integrated graphics.
period Battery life support with dedicated graphics card (BatteryEater classic test) is only 77 minutes.
Is acceptable battery computer laptop when watching DVD's. The m15x lasted 124 minutes with integrated graphics, and is therefore able to show an entire movie with a medium length.
Even better is the result of the WLAN test practice (integrated graphics card, power saving mode, the brightness level of 6 out of 7) with an autonomy of 170 minutes.
Alienware did with the Area-51 m15x an important advance in the game segment compact. Someone who is looking for high performance in multimedia notebooks 15.4 "quickly notice a distinct lack of competition for the m15x.
The greatest weakness the Area-51 m15x is the case of the laptop. Plastic parts do not carry high quality, nor as regards the sensation of the surface, nor stability, not to mention the creaking noises when constant handling of the laptop.
While the m15x offers only a small amount of ports, everything a player needs is available. Alignment of the ports especially impressed during the test. So does the excellent keyboard, which is ready for a successful career games.
By dint of the Alienware Area-51 m15x is certainly the view, which offers high resolution, good brightness and lighting, as well as excellent contrast and a matte surface, which prevents glare.
There is not much more to say about the performance. An increase of 15.4 "class would now only be possible if a producer has managed to put two GeForce 8800M GTX in a laptop 15.4 inches, which seems highly unlikely for several reasons (hp laptop battery mini series). The m15x offers great gaming performance, therefore, even where a reduction of levels of detail in games DirectX10 may be necessary if one wants to play in native resolution.
Another important point who speaks for the m15x is the low level of noise in office mode and Internet, because the laptop offers the possibility to switch between dedicated graphics and integrated which significantly reduces noise. This obviously helps doesen't high performance mode, which results in a notebook hard when using demanding programs.
The integrated graphics chip can also prolong the lifetime of the Area-51 m15x to acceptable levels, this which makes mobile use possible.
