* Make sure your drive is actually capable of burning the media type you want to use. For example, a combination DVD / CDRW can not burn DVDs. Eject the drive door and look at the front of the reader to view all formats that the player is able to use.
* If a player has problems burning discs that you know are compatible with the drive, either the disc is bad or the drive's firmware may be able to be updated. Updating the firmware of the player can make the player compatible with several record labels. Updating the drive's firmware does not allow the drive to burn a new disc type. For example, you can not update the firmware CD or DVDs to burn to DVD + R or dual layer discs.
If you want to update the firmware on your drive or you do not always know if the player supports the drive you want to burn, please refer to support document identify pre-installed player CD or DVD.
* If your drive is not burning or recognizing any discs, use quality CD-R for Test the CD-R is highly compatible.
* Double-layer discs can be burned by DL compatible players. To check, open the drawer reader and to find a "DL" printed on the front of the reader.
* Blu-ray disc can be burned by the readers of comics and requires compatible special software to burn. To check, open the drive tray and find a "BD" imprinted on the front of the reader.
