Have you ever thought about building your own computer? If you've ever been frustrated by all prepackaged "software" that comes with a pre-built computer, or never had to spend hundreds of dollars to get your office upkeep, you may want to consider building your own computer.
Listed are some reason, you can build your own computer:
1. A new clean operating system (No pre-packaged software).
2. A better understanding of your computer, and computers in general.
3. You can build a machine tailored to your needs.
4. If your machine becomes obsolete, you can buy new parts instead of a completely new computer.
5. You can save money!
First, you must determine what kind of computer you need. Have you need a quiet little computer to write reports and spreadsheets? Do you need a powerful video editing machine game /? Once you have taken this decision, you can choose to move the pieces.
Mother
The motherboard is the element most essential in a computer. Almost everything, including the processor, RAM, hard drives, floppy disk, and optical drives are plugged into the motherboard. I recommend the purchase of at least $ 50 - $ 100 motherboard. Often you can find the motherboard and processor combos in this range that are perfect for the home good market / desktops. Intel Dual Core is perfect for multitasking programs, and is the lowest I settle for any machine. However, if you want a more powerful machine, you can spend a little more on the motherboard and CPU, which leads me to ...
The CPU
The processor, or the CPU is an older term for processor. The processor contains cicuitry logic that executes instructions of computer programs. Since you pick up your CPU, I'll assume that you build a high end machine, like a motherboard and processor combo would be good for anything else. I could spend Dual Core, but if you want raw processing power, Quad Core is the way forward. I recommend Intel or AMD, but there are other manufacturers there. The most important thing to remember is to ensure that it is the right brand and the pin configuration to fit the motherboard!
Other Parts
RAM - 2 GB, at least. 4 gigs for a more powerful machine. Make sure it has the correct pin configuration.
Food - If the computer case does not come with a power supply, you need to choose one. Make sure it matches your motherboard. 300 watts is adequate for most machines, but you might consider something great if you want a platform game.
Map Graphics - 1 GB is enough for most machines, but if you want to edit videos or play games, go to concerts. Some motherboards support more than one video card, but at the time of this writing, some programs do. Good brands to choose from nVidia and ATI.
Optical Drive - If you want a desktop computer at home, take a good market. If you want to burn CDs and DVDs, make sure it can handle it. To tell the truth, they are not used much. Good read / write speed is optional, but recommended.
Hard drive - Serial ATA are recommended. Close 100 performances of space to suit your needs. For a computer game or video editing, you can get more readers.
Operating System - Windows XP, Windows Vista or Linux. Windows XP is recommended for the average user, like Windows Vista is not very friendly, and Linux is more technical. However, Linux is free, and if you're interested, there are many sites to help you install Linux. Linus is not that difficult to install.
Buy parts
Online is generally cheaper, and has the largest selection, but a national chain or local retailer will do.
Construction of the computer
Before you start building your computer, one thing you should know is on electricity static. If you offend one of the sensitive material, it will be useless. Do yourself a favor and buy a bracelet to land and land yourself. Otherwise, you run the risk of damaging your components and buy a new one.
Since any set of the game will be unique (which is the point), the instructions differ from person to person. But here is an overview of what you should do.
Find the motherboard and the microprocessor. Align the corners marked and drop the CPU into the socket. No force is necessary. Secure.
Install the heat sink. The CPU box have instructions, and you must follow them carefully.
To install the RAM, to find a location marked "A" and push the unit in. It should lock in place.
Now you must install the motherboard into the case. The case comes with a hole cut into the motherboard, all you need do is line up and screw
The case should have some more slots. These slots are where the hard drive (s) and the optical drive go. Drag readers the screws are in place, then attach to the motherboard. It should be fairly obvious where the plug-in
If you have a video card, you must install now. The manual contains detailed instructions for each different card.
Now close the case and attach the monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse.
Turn it on! You should hear the fans and hard drives going, the lights illuminating, and something on the screen. Now all you have to do is install the operating system. Congratulations!

Bookmaking: Editing, Design, Production $48.74 The unchallenged bible of the publishing industry, Bookmaking is the introduction to editing, design, and production for newcomers, acclaimed as the premier text for students as well as a comprehensive reference for experienced hands. First issued in 1965 and revised in 1979, it has now been thoroughly reorganized and updated to reflect the profound changes in the bookmaking process and in publishing practices in the twenty-first century. The computer-centered method of getting from the author's conception to completed print-or electronic-book has come to dominate publishing, involving not only the setting of type but also the preparation of manuscripts, editing, illustration creation and processing, page makeup, color separation, and preparation for printing. Even more significant than its use for these individual procedures is the computer's role in creating an integrated system that is greater than the sum of its parts. Covering all the publishing processes up to distribution, Bookmaking addresses the needs of publishing professionals, whether they do the work themselves in-house or have it done to their specifications by outside suppliers. But this new edition is not only about technological change; all aspects of bookmaking have been reconsidered. The text that served the industry for nearly three decades has been updated where appropriate, while still providing the unchanging facts and principles of book craft. |

Everyday Editing $14.8 Editing is often seen as one item on a list of steps in the writing process?usually put somewhere near the end, and often completely crowded out of writer's workshop. Too many times daily editing lessons happen in a vacuum, with no relationship to what students are writing. In Everyday Editing, Jeff Anderson asks teachers to reflect on what sort of message this approach sends to students. Does it tell them that editing and revision are meaningful parts of the writing process, or just a hunt for errors with a 50/50 chance of getting it right?comma or no comma? Instead of rehearsing errors and drilling students on what's wrong with a sentence, Jeff invites students to look carefully at their writing along with mentor texts, and to think about how punctuation, grammar, and style can be best used to hone and communicate meaning. Written in Jeff's characteristically witty style, this refreshing and practical guide offers an overview of his approach to editing within the writing workshop as well as ten detailed sets of lessons covering everything from apostrophes to serial commas. These lessons can be used throughout the year to replace Daily Oral Language or error-based editing strategies with a more effective method for improving student writing. |

Film Editing $101.96 Film editing is part of the postproduction process of filmmaking. It involves the selection and combining of shots, connecting the resulting sequences, and ultimately creating a finished motion picture. It is an art of storytelling. Film editing is the only art that is unique to cinema, separating filmmaking from other art forms that preceded it (such as photography, theater, dance, writing, and directing), although there are close parallels to the editing process in other art forms like poetry or novel writing. Film editing is often referred to as the invisible art because when it is wellpracticed, the viewer can become so engaged that he or she is not even aware of the editors work. On its most fundamental level, film editing is the art, technique, and practice of assembling shots into a coherent whole. A film editor is a person who practices film editing by assembling the footage. However, the job of an editor isnt simply to mechanically put pieces of a film together, cut off film slates, or edit dialogue scenes. Developmental Editing $22.5 Editing is a tricky business. It requires analytical flair and creative panache, the patience of a saint and the vision of a writer. Transforming a manuscript into a book that edifies, inspires, and sells? That’s the job of the developmental editor, whose desk is the first stop for many manuscripts on the road to bookdom—a route ably mapped out in the pages of Developmental Editing . Author Scott Norton has worked with a diverse range of authors, editors, and publishers, and his handbook provides an approach to developmental editing that is logical, collaborative, humorous, and realistic. He starts with the core tasks of shaping the proposal, finding the hook, and building the narrative or argument, and then turns to the hard work of executing the plan and establishing a style. Developmental Editing includes detailed case studies featuring a variety of nonfiction books—election-year polemic, popular science, memoir, travel guide—and authors ranging from first-timer to veteran, journalist to scholar. Handy sidebars offer advice on how to become a developmental editor, create effective illustration programs, and adapt sophisticated fiction techniques (such as point of view, suspense, plotting, character, and setting) to nonfiction writing.   Norton’s book also provides freelance copyeditors with a way to earn higher fees while introducing more creativity into their work lives. It gives acquisitions, marketing, and production staff a vocabulary for diagnosing a manuscript’s flaws and techniques for transforming it into a bestseller. And perhaps most importantly, Developmental Editing equips authors with the concrete tools they need to reach their audiences. |
