Compaq Presario CQ61-410US 15.6 "Laptop (Black)
Love this laptop!
This is the first laptop that I purchased new in fact. The laptop Last I had was a Dell Inspiron that I bought used from a friend 2-3 years ago. Only 512 MB, 40 GB hard drive and processor single core. So for me this Compaq is a huge update. Like the mouse pad most. It is metal instead of "soft" as the Dell Inspiron. Like the keypad that I am an accountant and I'm used to the keypad side more than the numbers on the keypad. The screen is much too large. In fact, I watched it one night on Avatar and I'm very impressed by the quality of reading. I had this laptop for a week now and it works better than my Dell Vostro 400 Desktop Core 2 Duo, I bought 2 years ago (still on XP). I was able to load the game Spore on it also without problems. I'll mainly use it to surf the Internet and casual games. Bought mine at Staples for $ 399 and everybody assures me that I got a great buy I'm tickled to find one under $ 500 with such power and features. The con I have so Right now there is no recovery disks. The restoration is part of the hard drive so you do not really have 250 GB hard drive. I think it was a something like 230. I have to restore HP disk for $ 15 just in case the one I did not work for some reason. This laptop is also very light. I'm surprised it is lighter than my work laptop given my work laptop is only 10 "screen where it features a 15.6 "display.
I highly recommend this particular laptop for students or someone who just wants a computer cheap laptop to see if they even want a computer or not.

Definitely worth the money!
The Compaq 61-410 is not the fastest laptop chic or coolest in the world. It is, however, great value for anyone needing a new computer for email, web surfing and basic job office, etc. The sound is good, the screen is clear and the computer starts quickly. Windows 7 works without problems (so far at least!) And wireless components seems much better than my machine 4-years to find Wi-Fi available.
Overall, a good solid "A" for the value of this machine.

it is fairly easy to use, but after a month of use, I havent even "played" with all things it. still learning, but it is easy to use. I got basically everything I asked, just what I needed and is an ideal computer for travel.
the only thing i am not very happy with the speakers. too quiet. especially when compared with my old HP Pavilion that could blow your ears. So if you plan to use it to watch TV or movies, listening to music, etc., you may consider investing in some good external speakers. I picked up some really nice to a radio for $ 30.

I received my Compaq, April 1, after ordered on March 28. Excellent shipping from Amazon.
This model is mid-range when it comes to main stream computer science, and the price on Amazon is an excellent deal. You will not find cheaper elsewhere.
This computer has met and exceeded all my expectations, I have not found problems with its hardware or software that came with it.
Windows 7, will take some time getting used to, I do not know how he is better compared to XP or Vista yet.
For those who read reviews before buying, I recommend this computer. His above average and the price is a godsend.
This computer deserves a five star trulely.
Follow-up - April 22: Received this laptop on April 1. its been operational for at least 18 hours per day without any problems.
I can now say Windows 7 is a big improvement over XP and Vista in terms of usability, Safety and Security and my favorite of all is the new desktop and display capabilities.
Most drivers XP and Vista Hardware used to work with Windows 7! You need to update.
Had to update - printer, webcam, joystick and a digital camera (All now works correctly).
MR ATI HD 4200 Graphics video capabilities are exceptional, I saw a movie using the DVD RW Drive and the datails High Definition has been incredible.
I also burned some MP3 24x HD, I now have high definition audio in my car.
The best computer data revolves around the safety and security and HP took it to the next level. The computer is the police itself.
Compaq Presario CQ 61 - 420US is one of the best mid-range computer market. You will not
have a regret.
